“Catholics Help” is a new Emergency Relief Fund created by Catholics for America to identify unmet and immediate needs of people affected by Hurricane Harvey and future emergencies. This fund is new and needs immediate donors. Send emergency donations below.
How we will help:
- We coordinate with our network of 50,000 Catholics for America followers/members, 22,000 Católicos por América followers and others on the ground in affected areas
- We determine the unmet needs with those on the ground
- We solicit donations
- We send donated monies to followers/members on the ground who can distribute the donations (if there is money in the fund)
Hurricane Harvey: We have made contact with individuals on the ground in Houston. One is a Knight of Malta, a Knight of Columbus, a member of Catholics for America and founder of Catholics for Texas whose own home was flooded. Another is the general manager of Houston’s Catholic radio station. They have identified funding needs for others: dehumidifiers, infrared moisture detectors, cleaning supplies, cash gift cards (this is the best option because the affected person knows best what they need to buy), volunteer labor to remove carpet and drywall, etc. These needs are immensely important because if mold is not stopped in a home that was flooded then a family’s home could be torn down with the family still owing the mortgage.
